\"you see, what you do\"
Near the middle of the ESS board is a red LED that should not be lit (silkscreen labeled \"INIT\"). When you first power the board, the red LED should blink for a short period ( about 1/4 of a second) and then go off. Once you run Mach3, a green LED in the vicinity of the red INIT LED should light up.
As technology has become more prevalent in car design, interiors have been marked by a steady proliferation of touchscreens. Guy Bird explores the near future to determine whether the black mirror is here for good
This stylus has a hidden, spring-loaded ballpoint pen under the screw-off cap! The stylus can be used on any touch-screen device (cell phones, e-readers, tablets, etc.). The Pen/Stylus Combo is just 3-3/4\" long closed and 5\" long when the telescoping ballpoint pen is released. The durable rubber stylus tip is replaceable, and the ballpoint pen is refillable with a mini refill. This stylus/pen is available with a cap of your choice - cap with a clip, a cap with a key ring, or a cap with a necklace.Upgrade available - the new mesh stylus tip is more responsive and more durable than the rubber stylus tips. Simply unscrew the rubber tip and screw on the new mesh tip. $4.95
A great mix of old and new technologies. This pen combines the cool bolt action mechanism that quickly and reliably extends and retracts the writing tip and the newest mesh-tipped stylus that can be used on any touch-screen device (cell phones, e-readers, tablets, etc.). The mesh stylus tip is durable, very responsive and can be easily replaced. The BA Tech Pen comes with a Parker-style ballpoint refill, but it will also accept a Parker-style gel refill or the new Schmidt Easy Flow refill. 13/32\" X 5-1/2\" long
A scheme of a neutral beam injector (NBI), based on electrostatic acceleration and magneto-static deflection of negative ions, is proposed and analyzed in terms of feasibility and performance. The scheme is based on the deflection of a high energy (2 MeV) and high current (some tens of amperes) negative ion beam by a large magnetic deflector placed between the Beam Source (BS) and the neutralizer. This scheme has the potential of solving two key issues, which at present limit the applicability of a NBI to a fusion reactor: the maximum achievable acceleration voltage and the direct exposure of the BS to the flux of neutrons and radiation coming from the fusion reactor. In order to solve these two issues, a magnetic deflector is proposed to screen the BS from direct exposure to radiation and neutrons so that the voltage insulation between the electrostatic accelerator and the grounded vessel can be enhanced by using compressed SF6 instead of vacuum so that the negative ions can be accelerated at energies higher than 1 MeV. By solving the beam transport with different magnetic deflector properties, an optimum scheme has been found which is shown to be effective to guarantee both the steering effect and the beam aiming.

The Kerker preconditioner, based on the dielectric function of homogeneous electron gas, is designed to accelerate the self-consistent field (SCF) iteration in the density functional theory calculations. However, a question still remains regarding its applicability to the inhomogeneous systems. We develop a modified Kerker preconditioning scheme which captures the long-range screening behavior of inhomogeneous systems and thus improves the SCF convergence. The effectiveness and efficiency is shown by the tests on long-z slabs of metals, insulators, and metal-insulator contacts. For situations without a priori knowledge of the system, we design the a posteriori indicator to monitor if the preconditioner has suppressed charge sloshing during the iterations. Based on the a posteriori indicator, we demonstrate two schemes of the self-adaptive configuration for the SCF iteration.
This review concentrates on the advances of atomistic molecular simulations to design and evaluate amorphous microporous polymeric materials for CO 2 capture and separations. A description of atomistic molecular simulations is provided, including simulation techniques, structural generation approaches, relaxation and equilibration methodologies, and considerations needed for validation of simulated samples. The review provides general guidelines and a comprehensive update of the recent literature (since 2007) to promote the acceleration of the discovery and screening of amorphous microporous polymers for CO 2 capture and separation processes.
In this presentation, we will update our progress on computational designing and screening of solid materials for CO2 capture. By combining thermodynamic database mining with first principles density functional theory and phonon lattice dynamics calculations, a theoretical screening methodology to identify the most promising CO2 sorbent candidates from the vast array of possible solid materials have been proposed and validated at NETL. The advantage of this method is that it identifies the thermodynamic properties of the CO2 capture reaction as a function of temperature and pressure without any experimental input beyond crystallographic structural information of the solid phases involved. The calculated thermodynamic properties of different classes of solid materials versus temperature and pressure changes were further used to evaluate the equilibrium properties for the CO2 adsorption/desorption cycles. According to the requirements imposed by the pre- and post- combustion technologies and based on our calculated thermodynamic properties for the CO2 capture reactions by the solids of interest, we were able to identify only those solid materials for which lower capture energy costs are expected at the desired working conditions. In addition, we present a simulation scheme to increase and decrease the turnover temperature (Tt) of solid capturing CO2 reaction by mixing other solids. Our results also show that some solid sorbents can serve
